BAM can draw on a huge range of expertise encompassed among its members. All business and management disciplines are welcome, and our members have backgrounds in social and applied sciences and humanities. This enables BAM as an institution to have meaningful relationships with more specialised learned societies and communities of practice.
In turn, we can contribute individually and collectively to understanding how organisations work, exploring policy impacts and modelling many kinds of change. As an organisation we can be the partner of choice for practitioners undertaking scholarly investigations, and help academic professionals to develop as high impact researchers and teachers.
Primary areas of research interest
- Organisational performance measurement and management: critical and multidisciplinary interest in how and why PM&M practices are more effective in some contexts than others; development of theory.
- Management in public services, especially healthcare and higher education: what works, why and where; development needs of professionals who become managers.
- Systems thinking and practice applied to management, and by managers.
