Developing Academic Citizenship

___________________________________________________________________________

Description

This workshop is designed to support PhD students and early-career researchers’ academic life. We have created the event to discuss the activities and values that are expected from researchers to become members of their academic and university community, develop their civic purpose and have impact across society. “Academics provide service to students, colleagues, their institution, their discipline or profession, and the public” (Macfarlane:264). For the purpose of this workshop we shall focus on the academic citizenship of the research, rather than teaching, focusing on discipline-based and public service.
We have bought together leading scholars in the fields of knowledge transfer projects, impact case studies, publishing and academic jobs who will discuss matters concerning each of these activities. The guest lecturers will also facilitate breakout sessions to enable participants to explore such areas and develop their capabilities in these fields.
