BAM Marketing and Retail SIG Event: Sustainability and Ethical Consumption

___________________________________________________________________________

Description

This event aims to make an assessment of sustainability and ethical consumption research by looking back at its original purpose, how it developed, where it is now, and what it could or should develop into. In doing so, it aims to provide food for thought and guidance to current researchers in the areas of sustainability and ethical consumption and future research direction will be highlighted. This event is tied to a special issue of Management Decision, a leading scholarly management journal, based on the same theme as the conference. The workshop co-organisers and guest speakers would be editing this special issue. Acceptance of papers for the workshop does in no way imply acceptance of submissions to the special Issue; all papers for the Special Issue have to be submitted separately. The details of the special issue will be advertised in due course.

You are invited to submit extended abstracts of no more than 1000 words by emailing Dr. Alvina Gillani at a.gillani@surrey.ac.uk or Dr. Smirti Kutaula at s.kutaula@kingston.ac.uk. If an abstract is accepted, participants must register to attend the workshop. The closing date for extended abstract submissions is 14th March 2016.

The broad themes to be covered in this event are the following:

  • Critical review of the theoretical and methodological considerations pertaining to sustainability and ethical consumption (e.g. sustainable consumption, fair trade consumption, charitable giving, etc)
  • Empirical, conceptual and review studies on the role of ethics in sustainability and ethical consumption
  • Consideration of future research directions in the field of sustainability and ethical consumption
