BAM SRB SIG Event - Exploring capabilities for organisational transformation towards sustainability and climate change

Description
 

The aim of the event is to connect academics and practitioners in order to explore capabilities required at various levels to support transition towards a low carbon economy. The event will provide an opportunity to learn about a number of theoretical and methodological advances in understating the nature and challenges presented by sustainability transitions and approaches adopted by various organisations to respond to these challenges. The participants will explore SMEs’ role and environmental capabilities supporting enterprise growth and development in the context of the green growth. There is a practitioner-lead plenary session exploring environmental practices and strategies for sustainability of the regional SMEs. The event offers a number of leading-edge research presentations in the areas of: organisational transformation for sustainability; environmental capabilities towards a low carbon economy; responsible customer engagement, leadership for sustainability and networking approaches to civic leadership; methodological approaches to carbon footprinting. The event will conclude with a plenary discussion outlining various research strands and identifying potential for collaborative projects.

As part of the Centre for Business Improvement at the University of Derby, Sustainable Business and Green Economy research cluster hosts one of the high profile ERDF projects in the region titled 'Low Carbon Business Networks'. Combining empirical studies of sustainable transitions, ERDF project work and leading-edge research exploring capabilities for organisational transformation towards sustainability and climate change, the research centre is gaining significant presence in academia and amongst practitioners. Such advances are part of the University of Derby growing ambition and investment in research of high impact and innovation.
