2017 Directors Report

Call for Nominations: Doctoral Representatives (Full-time students and Part-time students) positions available on BAM Council from January 2019

10th October 2018

ABOUT THE ROLE

The role of the Doctoral Representatives (Full-time and Part-time) will involve representing PhD student interests on the main BAM Council and actively contributing to the Vice Chair Portfolio: Academic Affairs of Conference and Capacity Building.

The role will also focus on recruiting new PhD students, who will be able to benefit from BAM membership and remain with the Academy for the duration of their academic careers.
The Doctoral Representatives (Full-time and Part-time) will attend the Council and Annual General Meetings, to provide a report about the Doctoral Group and their activities. Council Meetings are held four times each year: March, May, September (at the BAM Annual Conference) and November, and focus on the planning and supporting of activities to be carried out between meetings. Meetings are normally held in London or other large cities (with the exception of the September meeting held at the BAM Annual Conference Venue).
The Doctoral Representative will be able to claim travel expenses for all Council related meetings.

The candidate should have some experience of the work of BAM and its Symposium and Conference, and be able to commit two academic years to the role, starting in January 2019 and ending in December 2020

ABOUT BAM COUNCIL

The BAM Council is an active group of elected BAM members that supports the Executive Committee in its work to promote, support and foster the management research and education community for the benefits of its members. Everyone elected is expected to make a contribution.

All Council members are assigned to one of the four Vice Chairs' portfolio: Special Interest Groups (SIGs), Academic Affairs of Conference & Capacity Building, Knowledge Management & Education, and Research & Publications. The work you will carry out will vary from, for example, setting up and supporting grant schemes, organising capacity building events or supporting SIG governance.

In your role you will have opportunities for leadership and development by contributing to the delivery of the BAM vision.

We welcome enquiries from anyone who feels that they can make this commitment and who is keen to make a difference to our community.
