CALL FOR PAPERS
Building on the success of ISF2018 and ISF2019, this event brings together an international group of progressive scholars in finance and related areas from business, economics and other disciplines. The ethos, organization and content of the Symposium is driven by the following shared values: Interdisciplinarity, Impact, Sustainability, Boldness, Diversity, Collaboration and Collegiality.
In partnership with the BAM “International Business” Special Interest Group (SIG), the ISF2020 welcomes contributions in the broader domain of International Business that are of interest to a finance audience. A special track has been set-up with plenary contributions by Tamer Cavusgil (GSU), Geoffrey Wood (Western Univ Canada) and Emmanuella Plakoyiannaki (Univ of Vienna). A ‘Meet the editors” panel discussion will offering valuable insights: Monica Contestabile (Chief Editor, Nature Sustainability); Konstantinos Stathopoulos (Editor‐in‐Chief Corporate Governance: An International Review) and Alessandro Zattoni (Former Editor-in-chief CGIR; Editorial Board Member Journal of Management Studies and Journal of Management and Governance).
Presentation Formats: There are three tracks for presentations: Keynote (up to 1 hour each with Q&A), Plenary (30 mins each, including discussion and Q&A) and Paper Presentation. Most presentations are based on academic papers but we also welcome the discussion of research impact case studies, teaching innovations, datasets and open source software code.
Paper Submission Procedure: Papers should be sent as an electronic copy in PDF format to email@example.com by April 30th, 2020 for review (submission requirements: plenary session, full draft paper; paper presentation, at least extended abstract). We follow a rolling acceptance system whereby authors are notified of the review decision within four weeks of submitting their paper.
Submissions to ISF2020 will automatically be considered for presentation at the inaugural ‘Financial Management’ Track of the British Academy of Management 2020 Conference- to be held on 2-4 September 2020 in Alliance Manchester Business School, UK. Authors of accepted papers can choose to present at ISF or both events, but separate registration and payment of fees is required. For the first ten papers submitted and accepted to ISF by Friday 21st February 2020, the registration fee for ISF will be waived if authors register for presentation in the BAM Financial Management Track (via https://www.conftool.pro/bam2020/).
Location: The Symposium takes place at the Tsatsaronakio Cultural Centre and the Molos Bay Hotel in Kissamos, Crete, Greece. Kissamos is conveniently located 30 minutes from the Chania international airport and port, and, 2.5 hours from the Heraklion international airport.
Facilities: The symposium has a child-friendly policy and welcomes presenters with their families in the academic and social events (see details below on registration). The symposium offers a mentor to each junior faculty and PhD students for informal support and networking facilitation. Participants are encouraged to stay on after the symposium in order to promote more interactions, develop research collaborations and reduce the carbon footprint from annual travel.
ISF2020 Registration: Registration for the symposium is available through the online store of the University of East Anglia. Presenters of accepted papers must register by June 30th in order to ensure that their paper is included in the program. The organising committee reserves the right to close registration earlier if capacity is reached. Online registration at the standard registration fee is open until midnight (GMT) Monday, July 1st, 2020, after which registration is possible at an increased fee (a credit card is required for all payments). The registration fee covers coffee breaks, the reception, 2 lunches, 3 dinners and a great social program. Delegate guests are welcome to join the social programme and meals by paying the discounted registration fee. No fee is required for the participation of children up to 12 years of age. If they prefer, guests can join only specific meals and activities and pay independently (please contact the organisers during the symposium). Guests and delegate family members joining the symposium activities need to be registered by the delegate that has invited them. A discounted registration fee also applies to the following categories: students, activists, retirees and participants based in ‘lower income’ and ‘lower middle income’ countries (as defined by the World Bank).
