We would like to congratulate Professor Sir Cary Cooper, British Academy of Management President on receiving global recognition by two prestigious Awards for his lifetime work on wellbeing.
The Chris Argyris Lifetime Achievement Award, which is awarded rarely and is the highest honour given by the Academy of Management. The Chris Argyris Lifetime Achievement Award is given to those whose career over a lifetime has had momentous and lasting effect on management academics, practice, and society. The Practice Theme Committee stated that ‘Sir Cary epitomizes the Practice Theme Committee’s purpose and mission. His research and efforts have had worldwide effects on understanding and institutionalizing the broader mission of scholarship and its benefits to society.”
Professor Sir Cary Cooper will be presented with the award at the Academy of Management annual meeting in Boston in August 2019.
In addition, Professor Sir Cary Cooper has been awarded the 2018 World Federation of People Management Association [WFPMA] Award, which took place in Chicago, Illinois in June 2018. The WFPMA Award was established by the World Federation of People Management Associations in the mid 1980s to recognize individuals who have made outstanding contributions to the advance of the HR profession at the international level and whose spirit and dedication have been inspirational to others. In particular it recognizes individuals who have made exemplary contributions to international level and whose spirit and dedication have been inspirational to others.
As Sir Cary steps down as British Academy of Management President at the end of 2018, we are delighted to announce that BAM will be renaming the Medal for Outstanding Leadership and Contribution as ‘The Professor Sir Cary Cooper Medal’ for Outstanding Leadership and Contribution.
On receiving the Lifetime Achievement Awards and Accolade from BAM, Professor Sir Cary Cooper said “I’m so privileged to receive these two international awards & the accolade from BAM to name one of the medals after me. Lifetime achievement awards are a great honour from my international colleagues, and the named medal from my BAM family a real tear-jerker! Thanks to AoM, BAM & WFPMA for thinking of me and putting a sizeable cherry on my career cake!”
