Many congratulations to BAM members Professor Gary Powell, Professor Mark Saunders and Professor Rafael Ramirez who have been recently conferred with Fellowship of the Academy of Social Sciences (AcSS).

They join 73 new Fellows are drawn from academics, practitioners and policymakers across the social sciences. Fellowships are awarded to only a very small proportion of our community. Fellows have been recognised following an extensive peer review process for the excellence and impact of their work through the use of social science for public benefit.

The Academy of Social Sciences is the national academy of academics, learned societies and practitioners in the social sciences. Its mission is to promote social science in the United Kingdom for the public benefit.  For more information about the Academy, visit

We would like to take this opportuntity to seek informal suggestions of future nominations - Fellows of AcSS must be eminent in their field and also have made a contribution to wider social science, above and beyond the normal demands of their role. More details of what makes a suitable nominee are available on AcSS website.

Suggestions should be sent to Madeleine Barrows in the first instance.
