Contrasting International PhD Experiences

This online event which is co-organised by the Operations, Logistics and Supply Chain Management (OLSCM) SIG and the BAM Continental Network aims at sharing and discussing a variety of first-hand experiences of PhD students with interested members of the BAM community.

Description

This online event which is co-organised by the Operations, Logistics and Supply Chain Management (OLSCM) SIG and the BAM Continental Network aims at sharing and discussing a variety of first-hand experiences of PhD students with interested members of the BAM community. A panel of four PhD and Early Career Researchers based in the UK and Germany share advice and review differences in their respective PhD experiences. Following a short introduction to the topics of their theses, the panellists discuss a wide range of perspectives on doing a PhD, including personal, organisational, intercultural, and academic aspects.

Contrasting both positive parts and challenges of their respective journeys, this provides a reflection for PhD supervisors on their own approaches to supervision for improvement of future PhD programmes and doctoral student support. The session will also allow PhD students to consider their own experiences as well as provide networking opportunities with peers.
