Career Development

We emphasise the two core elements that comprise academic careers - Specialist Knowledge required to develop research, teaching and engagements excellence, and Community & Culture created through our practice: our inclusive approach, our respect for colleagues and students, respect for ourselves, to enable the flourishing of academic lives.

We offer development programmes and events across all career stages and types. These map onto our BAM Framework, which is designed to help our members navigate their careers.

Early Career

In the British Academy of Management, we have a long tradition of nurturing those at the beginning of their academic careers. Our Early Career portfolio of activities is aimed at Doctoral Researchers, those in Post-Doctorate positions, and Lecturers.

Mid Career

In the British Academy of Management we have recently begun to expand our portfolio of career development programmes for those academics at mid-career level.

Senior Career

In the British Academy of Management we embrace all career levels and stages, including those who have reached seniority and those who are not seeking additional seniority but who are settled in their career role and are looking to embrace other aspects of their work, such as service to the field or their university.

BAM Masterclasses

Our series of BAM Masterclasses are delivered by prominent management theorists from across the globe each year. These online webinars are an exceptional learning experience, revealing how top academics think about the world, what inspires them, and how they develop and apply their ideas. Free to BAM members.
