The Organisational Transformation, Change and Development (OTCD) SIG is an interdisciplinary community of scholars and practitioners who are interested in all aspects of the constantly changing nature of organisations.
About the SIG
We aim to improve understanding of organisational change in all its forms and to coordinate and support rigorous conceptual and empirical research through our activities.
Objectives
- Act as a forum for discussion of the changing nature of organisations
- Stimulate innovative, rigorous and high-quality research into all aspects of organisational change
- Establish links with industry to provide opportunities for collaborative research and capacity development
- Provide opportunities for cross-disciplinary research collaboration
- Support members with capacity building events

Dr Nawaf Al-Ghanem
Dr. Nawaf AlGhanem is Co-Chair of the Organisational Transformation, Change and Development (OTCD) Special Interest Group Track at the British Academy of Management and a Visiting Research Fellow at Brunel University London. His research sits at the intersection of organisational transformation, leadership, and sustainability, with particular focus on network-based leadership and its role in enabling organisations to address complex environmental, economic, and societal challenges aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
His current research examines how integrated energy companies are navigating large-scale organisational transformation and strategic change in response to global sustainability and energy transition pressures. His work contributes to advancing theoretical and practical understanding of distributed and network leadership in complex institutional and industrial contexts.
Dr. AlGhanem brings more than two decades of leadership experience across defence, finance, and the global energy sector. He previously served as Director of Corporate Communications and Government Affairs at Bapco, where he played a key role in major transformation initiatives including the Bapco Modernization Programme. Earlier, he held senior investment leadership roles at GFH Bank, leading regional capital-raising and strategic investment initiatives across GCC markets.
He is the co-founder of the International Conference on AI and Strategic Transformation (ICAIST) and actively contributes to the international academic community through editorial leadership and scholarly publishing. He currently leads Special Issues in several leading management journals, including Journal of Managerial Psychology, Journal of Organizational Change Management, Leadership & Organization Development Journal, and Advances in Developing Human Resources, contributing to the advancement of research on leadership, organisational transformation, and sustainable development.
Dr Danielle Tucker
Dr Danielle A. Tucker is a Reader in Management at the University of Essex. Her research interests focus on evaluating complex change management initiatives for public sector organisations (including Police, Local Authority, Local Government, NHS Trusts and health and social care providers), with particular interest in information flows across organisational boundaries, partnership working and collaborative arrangements. She supports strategic change and transformation programmes in local government and health and social care services, and has led two Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) awards with Essex‑based charities Mid and North East Essex Mind and Community 360, supporting innovation and organisational development within the voluntary and community sector. Danielle is the Programme Director for Healthy Futures East, a regional partnership that supports evidence‑informed practice, system learning and innovation across public health and prevention. She is also the Academic Knowledge Mobilisation Lead for the NIHR ARC East of England. Through these roles, she works closely with local authorities, NHS organisations and community partners to strengthen collaboration and mobilise research into practice across local systems. Danielle's work draws upon the literature of organization studies, public management, strategic management and organisational psychology. She favours a multidisciplinary approach to research. She has over 15 years experience of both qualitative and quantitative data collection and analysis methods. Danielle is an Academic Associate of the Chartered Institute of Personnel Development (CIPD) and a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.
