The “Enhancing your application for the BAM Education Practice Award 2025” meeting will help prospective applicants to prepare for this year’s award. The presenters will be winners of past awards for both experienced and early careers categories. The meeting will be held between 15:00 and 16:00 BST, on Friday 16th May 2025. There will be a Q&A session.

Associate Professor in Strategy and International Business, University of Birmingham
Neil Pyper joined Birmingham Business School in January 2025 as Associate Professor in Strategy and International Business. Previously, he was Head of Education and Student Experience in the Faculty of Business and Law at Birkbeck, University of London. Before joining Birkbeck in 2020, he was an associate professor at Coventry University. Prior to embarking on an academic career in 2012, he spent eleven years as a political risk consultant, specialising in Latin America.
Neil is a specialist in strategic foresight, and has published on scenario analysis. He is co-author of a textbook called Technology Strategy, which was published by Red Globe Press in 2019. He is also a specialist in the political economy of Latin America. and co-edited the book Corporate Governing in Latin America: The Importance of Scandals to Institute Change, which was published by Palgrave in 2023. He is currently working on a textbook on decision making.
Neil leads an MBA module on international business at Birmingham Business School and teaches on several modules on the MSc International Business. He has experience of teaching a range of international business modules at multiple institutions. He also has significant experience of teaching decision making, strategy and strategic leadership at all levels.
Associate Professor, Henley Business School, University of Reading
Dr Elizabeth Houldsworth is an Associate Professor of Leadership, Organisations and Behaviour at Henley Business School. She is an experienced business school academic working in the areas of leadership and personal development, coaching and human resources management.
Liz teaches on MBA and Corporate programmes at Greenlands campus as well as on Masters programmes at Whiteknights campus. Her research focuses mainly on management learning; recent studies have included a comparative analysis of MBA students and their career outcomes.
In her role as Academic Director for MSc in International Human Resource Management, Liz secured CIPD accreditation and oversees the ongoing relationship with the professional body. In addition to teaching HRM modules Liz also teaches managing transformation, personal development and coaching.
She is an Associate Certified Coach of the International Coaching Federation and an Academic Fellow of the CIPD, as well as being an active member of the British Academy of Management's Special Interest Group in Knowledge Management and Learning. Liz also serves as a reviewer for the Journal of Management Education.
Prior to joining academia she worked in human resource management and in management consultancy with the Hay Group, where she specialised in the area of performance management.
