This event will take place in-person only.

Management, Knowledge and Education (MKE) is pan-British Academy of Management. We support events and dialogue within a collaborative community of practice interested in management education. Our “How to” Series of events provides opportunities for us to collectively examine and co-construct educational/teaching practice and scholarship.

This series of two workshops has been designed with the dual purpose of supporting colleagues to develop understanding and confidence in:
• supervising undergraduate and taught postgraduate research undertaken within the quantitative paradigm
• undertaking their own evaluation or research using quantitative approaches

The two workshops comprise:

Day 1, 10:00 - 16:00 UK time
Supporting the planning and evaluation of quantitative studies. Will include examination of institutions’ expectations of students’ abilities to undertake quantitative research, recognising when a quantitative study is appropriate, understanding data types, principles and practice of survey design, creating an online survey using JISC “Online Surveys”

Day 2, 9:30 - 15:00 UK time
Principles and practice of data presentation and analysis. Will include data cleansing, selecting and applying appropriate statistic tests, interpreting results (including those that are not significant)

Participants may opt to participate in only the one day, although we would encourage participants to join us for both workshops where possible

Participants are encouraged to bring a laptop with MS Excel and IBM SPSS software loaded. However, desktops will be available for those unable to supply their own. Participants are also requested to bring with them details from their student research modules/dissertations of the guidance that students receive and standards they need to meet in terms of data collection, presentation and analysis.

Registrations close on the 31st May 2023 at 23:59 UK time.
