BAM and SIMA sign historic agreement

Professor Nic Beech and Professor Katy Mason, President and Chair of the British Academy of Management, joined Professor Sandro Castaldo, President of our sister body in Italy – Società Italiana di Management (SIMA)  – in signing an historic agreement at their AGM hosted by the University of Palermo.

The Memorandum of Understanding allows for a new shared membership scheme, a partnered grant scheme, and other shared activities to be agreed by both parties. Members of the British Academy of Management can now opt to join SIMA for free – look out for an invitation to do so – and members of SIMA can opt to join BAM. We have already welcomed the first group of SIMA members into our community.

Professor Beech said, “We are delighted to work with SIMA in a warm and friendly spirit of collaboration to further our shared field. BAM’s strategic research on EDI and Respect in UK business school academics is already being replicated by SIMA, and the new joint membership and grant scheme will facilitate international working with some of our colleagues in Europe.”

Professor Katy Mason said, “The spirit of inclusion and plurality is very strong within BAM, and it is a pleasure to see collaborative working with partners move to a new level for the benefit of all our community and of academic work. We look forward to many years of valuable co-operation in a spirit of friendship.”
