BAM Responds to the Consultation on Future Research Assessment Programme (FRAP)

The Future Research Assessment Programme (sometimes known informally as ‘Future REF’) aims to explore possible approaches to the assessment of UK higher education research performance. It has been initiated at the request of the UK and devolved government ministers and funding bodies. This work is being led by the four UK higher education funding bodies: Research England, the Scottish Funding Council, HE Funding Council for Wales, and the Department for the Economy, NI, and is hosted by JISC. This programme of work is expected to conclude by late 2022.

Ahead of the announcement of the REF2021 outcomes in May 2022, the Future Research Assessment Programme (FRAP) held a consultation with the community to inform its thinking. The Executive of the British Academy of Management consulted with members of its community, including a roundtable discussion, and shared thoughts with the Chartered Association of Business Schools, and has submitted this response
