BAM's Journals upgraded to A* in the Australian Business Deans Council’s 2025 Journal Quality List.
We are pleased to announce that our journals – the British Journal of Management (BJM) and the International Journal of Management Reviews (IJMR) – have been upgraded from A to A* in the Australian Business Deans Council’s 2025 ABDC Journal Quality List.
The ABDC describes the A* category as ‘the highest quality category, representing the top 5–7% of the journals assigned to an individual FoR [field of research]. These are journals that are internationally recognised as exemplars of excellence in their FoR.’
Although primarily intended for the Australian and New Zealand scholarly community, the ABDC Journal Quality List is recognised globally. The 2025 list has been produced following an extensive review process of over 2600 journal titles.
We are delighted that BJM has been upgraded to an A* rating in the latest ABDC Journal Quality List, under the General Management category. This recognition stands as a testament to outstanding scholarship and editorial excellence, and reflects the collective effort, passion, and commitment of our entire community over the years – editors, reviewers, authors, and readers alike.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to the BAM community for its incredible and continued support. Building on this recognition, we will continue to shape future success and inspire our pursuit of even greater impact, strengthening BJM’s role as a leading platform for world-class interdisciplinary and multi-disciplinary research and scholarship on management-oriented themes and topics.

News from Downunder – Both BAM Journals (BJM and IJMR) are now Ranked A* as per the Australian Business Deans Council’s (ABDC) 2025 journal ranking list. This list is a culmination of an extensive review process that was conducted in 2025 involving 10 panels and 43 discipline experts for assessing the journal quality of 2600 journals. The ABDC ranking system notes A* as the highest quality category, that represents the top 5-7% of the journals in a field of research (FoR) code. These journals tend to have the highest international recognition and are recognised as exemplars of excellence in their FoR.
It's fantastic to note that both the International Journal of Management Reviews and British Journal of Management have been judged as A* by the panel of discipline experts. This signals the high-quality work both journals continue to attract and the rigorous reviewing and editing standards that our journals continue to uphold. The performance of both journals is also reflected in the journal impact metrics, downloads, citations and engagement.
