Reflecting on IJMR’s Most Impactful Reviews on the 40th Anniversary of the British Academy of Management

Asset 1@2x.png

This virtual special issue is dedicated to celebrating the 40th anniversary of the British Academy of Management and recognises the ten most influential articles published in the International Journal of Management Reviews (IJMR) between 2001 and 2025.

As Editors-in-Chief of IJMR, we selected and identified ten articles that revealed five recurring dimensions of excellence: the diagnosis of a consequential intellectual problem; methodological rigour and transparency; a distinctive theoretical output; logical structure of the analysis; and practical relevance linked to a theoretical or conceptual contribution.

We present here the editorial and ten original selected articles that we believe will serve as an excellent reference point to understand and learn about writing high-quality review articles for IJMR.

We hope through the editorial and the collection, our readers can understand how to impose conceptual order, resolve genuine ambiguities, and equip themselves with further tools for inquiry.
