Systematic review methods are becoming the "new normal" in literature reviews of management research. However, there is not yet much advice on how to organize sample selection in such reviews. This BAM event aims to shed light on sample selection. Martin Hiebl will report on his findings from a critical review of systematic literature reviews published in the Academy of Management Annals and the International Journal of Management Reviews. Based on this methodological literature review, we will discuss issues to consider in making the most critical decisions during the sample selection process. In addition, Martin Hiebl will present some descriptive characteristics such as the average number of research articles included in systematic reviews, the average number of databases used, and the average coverage period of such reviews. These figures can be used as reference values in future reviews.
This event is part of the annual BAM Academic Affairs of Conference and Capacity Building (AACCB) webinar series.
The AACCB webinars will help attendees to gain greater clarity about some contemporary issues, and how they link in with other related management research areas. Delivered by senior academics engaged in cutting edge research, the topics to be covered in the series will provide attendees with scholarly insight into what constitutes meaningful scholarship, and the making of optimal theoretical and methodological choices when crafting high impact manuscripts for publication. There will also be opportunities to discuss ways to get the best out of the publication process, crafting a careers, and networking with fellow academics, and other management researchers, all in one place.
