Call for Nominations – Vice Chair for Practice Engagement

We would like to invite you to submit your nominations for a new role on the British Academy of Management Executive – a Vice-Chair for Practice Engagement. The purpose of introducing this new Executive role is to support our strategic priority to facilitate the impact of business and management research on practice and policy

We are seeking an individual who can start this role from 1 January 2026.

The purpose of the role in the first instance will be to:  

  • Develop BAM’s approach to facilitating the impact of business and management research with relevant practitioners and policy makers.
  • Develop a process for engagement with relevant practitioners and policy makers to co-produce, disseminate and exploit business and management research.
  • Liaise with other VCs to develop capacity building workshops or materials for members. 
  • Oversee the Development Programme for Leaders of Engagement (DPLOE), in collaboration with the Director of this programme.

To fulfil the requirements of the role of Vice-Chair for Practice Engagement, the person standing for election should: 

  • Be a member of BAM. 
  • Normally have previously served as a member of BAM’s Council (for this post individuals who have not served in this capacity will be considered).
  • Have both an interest and experience in the area of practice engagement and impact.  
  • Be able to attend all meetings of the BAM Executive and Council, including informal telecons between main meetings. 
  • Be willing to work collaboratively across BAM and with external stakeholders as appropriate.  
  • Be able to commit time and energy to the role. 
How to Nominate 

Nominations may be made by any current BAM member, but please read carefully all the information below, and, in particular, the eligibility criteria before nominating anyone. Nominees must be current BAM members and must give their consent to being nominated. The VC for Practice Engagement will be a Trustee and Director of BAM and must be able to serve in that capacity.

Voting 

Individuals whose BAM membership is current (i.e. their subscription is up to date) will be able to cast one vote for this role.

The elections will be carried out using a secure electronic voting system, which will be open from Wednesday 3rd December to Wednesday 17th December.

Eligible individuals will be sent an individual, secure voting link by the voting system.

The outcomes will be notified publicly shortly thereafter.
