Recognising a Lifetime of Contribution: Introducing BAM's New Retired Membership for Life
Many of our retired members have played a significant role in shaping the BAM community over the years. To recognise their ongoing contribution and make it easier to remain engaged with the Academy, BAM is introducing a new Lifetime Retired Membership option.
Our Retired Membership Policy outlines an exciting new membership opportunity for retired professionals within the BAM community. From early November, BAM will replace its annual retired membership category with a new Retired Membership for Life, offering eligible members the chance to maintain their connection with BAM through a single one-off payment rather than annual renewals.
The new scheme has been designed to provide a fair and consistent route for retired members to continue enjoying the benefits of BAM membership without the need for ongoing annual subscription payments. Lifetime membership will enable retired professionals to remain part of the BAM network, access member benefits, and continue their engagement with the management research and education community.
The scheme will be available to retired members who meet BAM's eligibility criteria. As part of the application process, members will be asked to provide evidence of their retired status. Examples of accepted documentation may include pension confirmation, a retirement letter from an employer, official documentation confirming non-employment, or tax records showing no salary income. BAM will reserve the right to verify eligibility before granting lifetime membership.
Current annual retired members will be invited to convert to the new Lifetime Retired Membership category. To support a fair transition, any retired membership fees already paid will be taken into account. Members wishing to convert will only need to pay the difference between their previous retired membership payments and the full lifetime membership fee, with all payments verified against BAM membership records before the change is confirmed.
Following the launch of the new scheme, annual retired membership will no longer be offered to new applicants. Eligible retired professionals joining BAM after implementation will be able to obtain Retired Membership for Life by paying the full lifetime membership fee and providing the required evidence of retirement.
BAM will communicate the full lifetime membership fee, along with any relevant deadlines and implementation details, to affected members before the scheme comes into effect. The new arrangement reflects BAM's commitment to supporting retired members and recognising their long-term contribution to the Academy.
Further information, including pricing and transition arrangements, will be shared with eligible members ahead of the launch in early November.
