Message from the BAM President, Professor Nic Beech FBAM

Having been on the BAM Executive for the past eleven years, as vice-chair, chair and president, I am stepping down at the end of December. To me, BAM is a family, a wonderful community which thrives because it is diverse, open-minded, open-hearted and determined to make a difference in the world. Our diversity is crucial to how we learn, enquire and research and BAM colleagues have been enormously generous to me over the years in enabling me to learn from and with them. During my time I have seen outstanding growth and development in SIGs, conferences, capacity building, research, journals, MKE, our international partnerships, our impact in EDIR and now in sustainability. I can’t thank you all enough for everything you have done to bring about these changes. I am cautious about naming individuals, but I would like to say thank you to Madeleine and the team for all the support over many years, and to Katy who has been a fabulous chair and now becomes president. I will treasure the memories and be an enthusiastic supporter of what you all do next.
