Abstract: The growing popularity of mobile technology has led governments to develop mobile business models and encouraged different governments all over the world to move from EGovernment to mGovernment. However, there is very few systematic evidence regarding mGovernment implementation in less developed countries and the users behavioral intention to use mGovernment services. Therefore, the present study proposed to identify factors that affect UAE citizens and residents acceptance of mGovernment, to examine the interrelationships between mGovernment service characteristics, mGovernment technology characteristics, perceived ease of use, perceived usefulness, attitude towards m-Government use and behavioral intention to use mGovernment. Moreover, 12 hypotheses were developed and tested using a sample of 326 users of mgovernment services in the UAE. The results show that the suggested mGovernment model are crucial to achieving user acceptance of mGovernment services. This study has improved our understanding of the critical mobile technology factors that are needed to improve user acceptance of mGovernment services. The study presents important implications for both theory and practice.

KeywordsCorruptionTransparencyBudgetsAfricaNigeria

Abstract: This paper demonstrates how NGOs and the general public can facilitate transparency around the budgeting process through the open and active engagement of citizens monitoring the implementation of government budgeted zonal intervention projects in an emerging nation context. The study is the first longitudinal research on budgeted zonal intervention projects that were open and monitored by an NGO and members of the public in Nigeria, an emerging nation where this practice is not the norm. The novel research conducted in this context shows how corruption manifests itself within the governmental budget for zonal intervention projects, induces propositions to reduce corruption in such scenarios and highlights the problems and challenges that NGOs and the general public face when trying to successfully monitor government budgeted zonal intervention projects to reduce corruption. The findings indicate that in such contexts, institutions should be encouraged that embrace a holistic approach incorporating transparency, community engagement, political party neutrality, and offline and online participation, including the use of ICT and social media.

KeywordsGamificationMobile PaymentSilver GenerationTechnology Acceptance Model

Abstract: Mobile payment applications have become the main cashless payment methods for daily small transactions in China. However, the digital exclusion of the silver generation aged 50 and above has been observed in this revolution of payment method. To accelerate the penetration of mobile payment technology in China, leading service providers, like WeChat Pay and Alipay, developed a gaming programme embedded in their mobile payment applications known as Red Packet hongbao game. Hongbao is a traditional Chinese gift containing cash inside a red packet delivering good wishes and greetings sent by Chinese during the traditional Chinese New Year. Such cross over between digital technology and cultural tradition brings gaming elements in the technology experience. With increasing attention given to gamification in technology adoption, this study extends technology acceptance model TAM with specific emphasis on the effects of gamification and perceived risks to demonstrate the game elicited adoption of mobile payment technology among Chinese elderly consumers. A total number of 419 surveys was collected and the data was analysed using Structural Equation Modelling. Our findings confirm the effects of TAM in this specific context and reveal perceived benefits of gamification is determined by perceived enjoyment in the game. Perceived benefits of gamification have also been found to contribute to the users attitude development, directly and through the perceived usefulness. Meanwhile, perceived risks were identified as a barrier in converting attitude into adoption intention. Our findings contribute to the conceptualisation and understanding of gamification, specifically among the silver generation and bring important practical and social implications.

KeywordsSocial MediaInfluencer MarketingSource CredibilityPersonal InvolvementSocial Influence

Abstract: This paper investigates social media usage, focusing on the association between the influencers credibility and purchase intention. Building on the theory of source credibility and involvement inventory, a mediating effect research framework is proposed and evidenced. To test our proposed framework, data were collected via online survey and analysed by using partial least squares structural equation modelling PLS SEM. Drawn from 254 Thai social media users, our study suggests that credibility has a significant association with cognitive and affective responses as well as with normative and informative social influences. Upon which credibility has the most influence on affective response. To this end, our data indicate that social media followers increase their purchase intention through cognitive response. Nevertheless, social influences do not seem to have an inter relationship with personal responses and do not strengthen the relationship between responses and purchase intention. These results point to several important theoretical implications and empirical advice to practitioners.

Abstract: Underlying health conditions have been highlighted throughout the literature preventing several populations from engaging in physical activity, with little to no attempts made in addressing these populations directly in fitness facilities or indirectly through the use of information technology IT and technology. The current research aims at exploring current practices regarding IT and technological support in a fitness facility environment, using health behaviour theories HBT to explain member experiences expressed. The sample was composed of 66 participants selected from 5 fitness facilities in Manchester, UK, of which there were 60.6 males and 39.4 females aged from 18 59. The in- strument used was a semi structured questionnaire. The most reported barrier was injury 70.2, followed by the lack of knowledge or information about exercise 35.1% and illness 28.1% where the main support mechanisms were staff and particularly personal trainers. The use of personal IT and technology within the facilities were utilised by over half the participants, but little to no IT and technological support was provided by fitness facilities. Participants revealed the need of additional IT and technological support by their facilities in the form of applications and digital platforms. The findings are discussed with Health Behaviour Theories as the theoretical underpinnings and suggestions are made for future research regarding IT and technological advancements through a digital platform.

Track: e-Business and e-Government

Paper Type: Full Papers

Keywords: N/A

Abstract: Family law is an area in which parents and children already experience high vulnerability and elevated emotions, so it is critical that family dispute resolution services concerning child custody have demonstrated ethicality, effectiveness and quality. This systematic literature review on the topic of online family dispute resolution (OFDR) seeks to describe and integrate current knowledge of research and practice in Australia and internationally. Though a systematic method was adopted some criteria were made less restricted given the limited scholarly work in the area and no published randomized controlled trials on effectiveness. From the 19 records located through a systematic search protocol, it is clear that despite the growing interest in, advancement of, and access to technology there remains a lot to be done in regard to the empirical investigation of the ODR effectiveness as it is applied to family law. The majority of research to date appears to come out of the United States, although Australia is also an identified leader in OFDR platforms. Cross-culturally there appears to be a bias towards communicating the benefits of using technology in FDR processes, although a predominant theme identified was the argument that OFDR should complement, rather than replace, existing traditional services. Future research and practice developments are discussed.

KeywordsBusiness IntelligencePower DynamicsTechnology Enactment

Abstract: While many studies have explored the impact of Information Systems (IS) on organisations, generally there has been a lack of attention directed towards the human factors relating to its use in organisations. Moreover, while the extant literature generally acknowledges the role of IS in shifting influence from certain actors, towards others, there remains a lack of insight into how the latest forms of IS, such as Business Intelligence (BI) may impact the power dynamics within an organisation. Accordingly, this conceptual paper aims to provide a suitable framework which will assist researchers in exploring the collaborative use BI and its impact on power dynamics between organisational actors. Exploring this is of timely and of interest, particularly given the increasing use of BI within both private and public sectors, thus making it necessary to understand BI from a human-centric perspective. The paper provides an encompassing framework which incorporates not just the technology but other key factors, such as task, subject and contextual factors which may influence BI decision-making.
