This webinar will provide an in-depth overview of academic career pathways, highlighting both the advantages and challenges of pursuing a career in academia. It will include a panel discussion comparing academic job markets in the UK, the US, and Canada, offering insights into differences in expectations, hiring practices, and career progression.
Participants will gain practical guidance on academic career expectations through a dedicated “toolbox” session, as well as advice on networking and the crucial role supervisors play in career development. The webinar will also cover how to apply for academic positions and prepare effectively for job interviews, drawing on perspectives from both employers and applicants. The session will conclude with an open discussion, allowing participants to ask questions and reflect on their own career plans.
