This is a practical session designed for PhDs/DBAs. It will focus on delivering impartial expert advice on YOUR research through peer-to-peer workshops, led by senior academics from within the community.
The structure of the webinar is as follows.
The first section – This short section will discuss best practices regarding the publication of new research. (During this section, Professor Harry Sminia will share his insights on the differences between good and great research, process that turns research into something publishable, and how to improve your chances of getting through the review process.)
The main section is a practical session where attendees are split into small groups, based upon their research / desired feedback. Within this section, every attendee will get the chance to briefly present their research / part of their research. In return, their group will provide comments and suggestion for ways in which the research can be developed.
The final section – this short section will bring forth the themes from every group session, and close with some wise words regarding how to be a successful academic in 2021.

Dr Inge Hill is working at the Royal Agricultural University, where she is the RAU lead for the exciting Research England funded National Innovation Centre for Rural Enterprise.
She is a passionate, experienced and award-winning scholarly researcher and academic teacher and the 2020 BAM Experienced Teaching Practitioners Award holder.
With over 11 years within non-executive director / director roles, Inge is the Chair of the Strategy Research Special Interest group within BAM.
Her research is rooted in practice theory, with particular appreciation of Bourdieu’s work and Giddens structuration theory. She is currently researching creative industries in rural and urban clusters and has a passion for artisan and craft entrepreneurship.Professor Sminia joined Strathclyde in 2013, following successful periods at the University of Groningen, the Vrije Universteit, Amsterdam and the University of Sheffield.
His research interests are in the area of processes of strategy formation, strategic change, and competitive positioning. Harry’s research extends across:
He currently focuses on high value manufacturing, which is of prominence in the UK’s economic and innovation policy, and is at the crossroads of strategy, innovation, and operations.
Dr Jefferies joined the University of the West of Scotland in 2014 following 14 years working in a variety of management positions in the hospitality and retail sectors
Richard is responsible for teaching and developing a range of management and new technology modules and for contributing to the mainstream general management teaching and research within the School of Business and Enterprise.
His research interests are focused on the realm of Organisation Development and Change. His current research focus is on an exploration of the radical organisational change process which led to the creation of a single national police service for Scotland.
