International Federation of Scholarly Associations of Management (IFSAM) Monthly Bulletin – August 2021

In August we welcomed a new member of our Executive Committee as Wafa Khlif from Toulouse Business School was elected as Treasurer. We also welcomed Professor Sergio Wanderley from the Unigranio Graduate Management Programme to our senior staff as Deputy VP for Education. We look forward to working with them both.

We were also delighted to re-admit ACEDE (the Spanish Academy of Management) as a full member of IFSAM. ACEDE is the fifth association that has returned to full membership of IFSAM in the past seven months.  We are happy that IFSAM is thriving in this way and hope to welcome more new members over the next few months.

We have extended the deadline for nominations for our new awards until 15 November 2021. The awards focus on: Excellence in Societally Relevant Management Scholarship; Excellence in Indigenous Management Scholarship; Excellence and Innovation in Management Pedagogy; and Exceptional Service to the Management Field Worldwide.  Please do take this opportunity to nominate anyone that you think is deserving of one of these awards.  Further details of the awards and how to make a nomination can be found at: https://www.ifsam.org/ifsam-awards/

We have continued with the promotion of the first soft policy statement from our General Assembly (GA). This statement is based upon discussions during our recent webinar series and focuses on the evaluation of management research and suggests a way forward. The statement can be read at: https://www.ifsam.org/blog/2021/06/04/ifsam-general-assemblys-position-statement-on-management-research/.

We repeat here our request for your help in sharing this policy statement as widely as possible and our invitation to give us your feedback and endorsement of this policy statement.

August is not only holiday time for some of the world, it is also conference time for several of our members. The Academy of Management (AOM) and British Academy of Management (BAM) both held their annual (virtual) meetings over the past few weeks. It is always fantastic to see members of our community coming together to discuss research and education in this way.
