We are thrilled to announce the results of the recent call for nominations for Vice Chair positions on the BAM Executive, starting in January 2026!
We received one eligible nomination for each of the following Vice Chair roles: Management Knowledge and Education, Academic Affairs of Conference and Capacity Building, and Research and Publications. We are pleased to confirm that these candidates have been duly elected unopposed:
Additionally, following an election for the Co-Vice Chairs for Special Interest Group position, we're delighted to confirm that Professor Christian Harrison (University of Greater Manchester) and Dr Rebecca Liu (Lancaster University) have been elected to serve in these roles.
Starting in January, these new members will join our existing strong leadership team: Chair Professor Emma Parry, President Professor Katy Mason, Treasurer Dr Charles Thornton, Co-Vice Chair for AACCB: Professor Sarah Robinson, Vice Chair for EDIR Dr Emily Yarrow, and Vice Chair for Sustainability Professor Emma Macdonald. We're confident that this dedicated team will continue to advance BAM's strategy, and we're incredibly grateful for their commitment to serve.

Professor Andy Charlwood is Professor of Management and head of the Department of Management and Organisations at the University of Leeds.
After reading History at the University of Liverpool, Andy gained an MSc and PhD from the Industrial Relations Department of the London School of Economics. He began his academic career as a lecturer in HRM at the University of Kent in 2001, moving to Leeds for the first time as lecturer in HRM and Industrial Relations in 2003. He has also held the posts of senior lecturer at the universities of Warwick and York and professor of HRM and Organisational Behaviour at Loughborough University, re-joining Leeds in September 2016.
Andy’s main research interests are in the use of digital technologies in HR and people management, with a particular focus on the healthcare workforce. He is particularly interested in the ways in which AI, analytics and the digitisation of people management are changing HRM and workers’ experiences. His research is interdisciplinary in its approach, drawing on theory and methods from the sociology of work and employment, work psychology and labour economics.

Professor Lisa Anderson is Professor of Management Learning at the University of Liverpool Management School. She is a Fellow and Trustee of the Academy of Social Sciences and a BAM Fellow.
Her current research interests are in examining the impact of management education and research on managers’ practice, the nature of scholarship and the role and conditions of Education-focused academics in business and management schools.
Lisa has held several leadership positions, at Liverpool, including Associate Dean and Associate Pro-Vice-Chancellor Education. She has written textbooks for professional doctorate and HRM students and published in a range of journals including Academy of Management Learning and Development, British Journal of Management and Management Learning and has also just launched a podcast, Girl Profs, examining and celebrating the careers of women professors.

Professor Nicholas Burton is Head of Department (Leadership and Human Resource Management) at Northumbria University, and lead director of the Responsible Business research centre.
Nicholas’s research explores the drivers and outcomes of (ir)responsible business, and the experiences of disadvantaged and protected communities in such work contexts. Nicholas is an associate editor at three international journals and is also an ESRC reviewer and a REF lead at Northumbria.

Adina Dudau is Professor of Public Management at the University of Glasgow Adam Smith Business School. She serves as Associate Research Director and leads on People, Culture, and Environment within the School. Externally, she is Associate Director of the Scottish Graduate School of Social Science (SGSSS). Deeply committed to doctoral development and research capacity building, Adina has held a number of leadership roles in the doctoral training ecosystem, including Director of Postgraduate Research in her School. She will serve as Doctoral Symposium Convener at the 2025 BAM Annual Conference.
Adina brings extensive editorial experience to her work, as Co-Editor of the European Management Journal, and Associate Editor for Public Management Review and Journal of Management Inquiry. She is a regular contributor to major international management conferences, fostering collaboration and engagement across institutional and national boundaries. This breadth of experience underpins her strong commitment to the mission of the Academic Affairs of Conference and Capacity Building Committee, particularly in advancing inclusive capacity-building and international stakeholder engagement across the management research community.
Adina's own research span three key areas: research policy (research ecosystems including doctoral training, people, culture and environment), public service ecosystems, and the impact of digitalisation on the future of work and on integrity management and corruption. Dr Elizabeth Houldsworth (Liz) is an experienced management development practitioner and an Associate Professor in Management Education and Learning at Henley Business School (University of Reading).
She has a long association with BAM, spanning over 30 years, focusing largely on the Knowledge and Learning SIG and MKE. Her scholarship interests revolve around managerial / adult learning and the career and personal development outcomes experienced by Business School learners.
As a qualified coach, she has a particular interest in supporting women’s careers and is currently leading two communities of practice within Henley and Reading to develop pedagogical scholarship amongst teaching-focused colleagues.

Christian Harrison is a Professor of Leadership and Enterprise at the University of Greater Manchester UK and the Director of the Centre for Leadership and Empowerment. He is also the Head of the Research and Doctoral College of the Off Campus Division. He leads the Research Excellence Framework (REF) for Business and Management in the Business School and is a well-known scholar in leadership, contributing to media outlets like STV, Scotland Tonight, and the Guardian Nigeria. He has authored numerous research papers and books, including the bestselling Leadership Theory and Research: A Critical Approach to New and Existing Paradigms.
Christian chairs the Leadership and Leadership Development SIG of the British Academy of Management and the Academy for African Studies. He is a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy, a Certified Management and Business Educator, and a Fellow of the Institute of Business Administration and Knowledge Management. He serves on several editorial boards and panels, and as an external examiner for many UK universities.
An expert consultant and speaker, he has delivered leadership training to the Scottish Government Directors, NHS, SMEs, and a host of others. Professor Harrison’s accolades include an Honorary Doctor of Innovation in Leadership, 2024 Distinguished Leadership Award and multiple Excellence Awards. He is also the founder of The Leadership Mould Initiative International, championing leadership development globally.

Dr Rebecca Liu (Lancaster University Management School) holds an MBA from the University of Missouri (USA) and a PhD from the University of Strathclyde (UK). A long-standing member of the British Academy of Management (BAM), Rebecca has made significant contributions to the Academy’s strategic priorities, particularly in sustainability and EDIR (Equality, Diversity, Inclusion, and Respect). Her active involvement in national and international initiatives has played a key role in advancing these areas.
Rebecca’s commitment has been recognised through several BAM honours, including the Outstanding Services Award, Best Paper Award, and the Highly Commended Education Practice Award.
Prior to her academic career, Rebecca held senior executive roles in global markets, where she led innovative and high-impact initiatives. She currently serves on the editorial boards of leading academic journals and is an active member of the N8 Research Partnership, the Product Development and Management Association, the Study of Business Markets, and BAM’s Peer Review College.
Her leadership within BAM, combined with her research in responsible management education and sustainable business practices, offers valuable insight into strengthening the community of Special Interest Groups (SIGs) and advancing BAM’s core mission.
