2026 Conference theme, “Policy, Knowledge Exchange, and Bridging Theory with Practice"

The 7th International Conference on Managing Tourism Across Continents (MTCON’26) will take place from 29 April to 2 May 2026 in Antalya, Türkiye.

The 2026 conference theme, “Policy, Knowledge Exchange, and Bridging Theory with Practice,” reflects MTCON’s continuing commitment to connecting academic research with policy development and industry practice in tourism and hospitality management. Over the years, MTCON has established itself as a truly global platform for advancing scholarship, dialogue, and collaboration across disciplines, sectors, and regions. We look forward to building on this legacy in 2026.

We invite submissions of developed or developing papers, including conceptual, empirical, and methodological studies, as well as practice-based and policy-focused case studies, from across the tourism and hospitality domain. Submissions may be based on completed research or work in progress.

Suggested topics include, but are not limited to:

  • Digital Ethics, Data Governance, and Technology Adoption
  • Consumer Behaviour, Wellbeing, and Transformative Travel Experiences

  • Education, Pedagogy, and Future Skills
  • Service Excellence and Experience Management
  • Destination Marketing, Branding, and Crisis Management
  • Lodging and Restaurant Marketing and Management
  • Sustainability, Net-Zero Transitions, Regeneration, and Governance
  • Diversity, Equity, Accessibility, and Inclusion
  • Entrepreneurship, Innovation, and Creative Industries

In line with the 2026 theme, we particularly welcome papers that:

  • Examine the role of policymakers in fostering sustainable, inclusive, and resilient tourism systems
  • Investigate effective models of knowledge exchange between universities, governments, industry, and communities
  • Showcase case studies where theoretical insights have been successfully translated into practice and policy
  • Critically analyse the challenges of aligning academic research with real-world tourism practices and governance needs
  • Explore co-creation, participatory approaches, and interdisciplinary collaborations as mechanisms for impactful knowledge transfer

We welcome contributions from established and early-career scholars, educators, doctoral and master’s students, and industry practitioners.

Submission formats:

  • Full papers: 4,000–6,000 words
  • Extended abstracts: 1,000–1,500 words
