Launch of the Development Programme for Directors of Engagement (DPDoE)

We were excited to welcome our first cohort of delegates to our new international Development Programme for Directors of Engagement, which was launched at The Shard in London on 10th November.

Professor Tim Vorley, who is Pro Vice-Chancellor and Dean of Oxford Brookes Business School and also leads on Entrepreneurship and Enterprise across the university, is our inaugural programme facilitator. He led the delegates – who represented a wide range of institutions in the UK and beyond - in a series of exercises to expand their ideas about how schools of business and management can engage with a wide variety of publics.

Attendees received expert presentations from Professor Kiran Trehan of University of York, Professor Tim Mescon of AACSB International, and Mr Wilfred Mijnhardt of Rotterdam School of Management. They also engaged with our Deans' Perspectives Panel, consisting of Professor Palie K Smart FBAM, Dean of Bristol University School of Management and Professor Baback Yazdani, Executive Dean of Nottingham Trent University. The first day culminated with a discussion of engagement with students, including a visit from some Business and Management students from the Oxford Brookes and Greenwich universities.

This new programme – aimed at those leading engagement within their institutions, whether academic staff or not – is a 4-session programme, run partly online, which forms part of BAM’s commitment to building the business and management academic community so that it can best support our discipline to contribute positively to society. It will be an annual programme with registration opening each summer.
