More than European Export? Strategy-as-Practice in its Fourth Decade

Staged by the BAM Strategy Special Interest Group

Untitled-3a1.jpeg

Webinar Description

This webinar will consider Strategy-as-Practice research as a case study illustrating the general strengths and challenges of European exports in Organization and Management Theory, for example Comparative Institutionalism, Scandinavian Institutionalism and Critical Management Studies. Strengths include roots in social theory, regional complexity and supra-organizational sensitivities. Challenges include limited geographical reach.

As it enters its fourth decade, the talk will show how Strategy as Practice research continues to be shaped by the common features of European research traditions. As for other European traditions, the future for Strategy as Practice research lies not only in more fully exploiting its European heritage but also in incorporating theoretical and empirical opportunities from outside its geographical origins.
