Details of the three candidates (in alphabetical order) including their institution and election statement can be found below:

Dr Dongmei Cao

I would like to express my interest in serving as Co-Chair of the Sustainable Responsible Business (SRB) SIG, following Polina’s stepping down. Having worked closely with Simon and Polina as SRB Track Co-Chair over the past two years, I believe our established collaboration and shared vision will ensure a smooth transition and continued growth of the SIG. As a long-standing BAM member, Peer Review College member, and Associate Editor for BAM’s flagship journal, International Journal of Management Reviews (IJMR), I have been proud to contribute to and learn from the BAM community for over a decade. These experiences have deepened my appreciation for BAM’s leadership in promoting research excellence, inclusion, and international engagement. Now an Associate Professor in Business Transformation at Nottingham Trent University, I am eager to further my contributions through the SRB SIG Co-chair by fostering inclusive collaboration, supporting early-career researchers, and strengthening global partnerships. I am particularly excited about BAM’s growing international leadership and the opportunity to connect with scholars and communities worldwide. As an Asian woman academic, I also hope my leadership will further reflect and advance BAM’s values of equality, diversity, and inclusion.

Dr Julian Riano

I feel honoured to put this expression of interest forward to join Dr. Simon Smith as a co-chair for the Responsible and Sustainable Business SIG at the British Academy of Management. My name is Dr. Julian Riano and the rationale is fourfold: first, my experience as a co-track chair for the SIG which began in 2019, has involved the preparation for BAM conferences in the years 2020, 2021, 2022, 2024, and 2025. My duties encompass meeting SIG members to discuss submissions of papers, allocating reviewers, debating best paper awards, categorisation of developmental and full papers, and reviewing papers when assigned reviewers did not complete them. I have also been an active member of the SIG by participating as co-track chair in 2020 and 2024 conferences. Second, my research has always involved elements around social sustainability and SMEs. Third, I am involved as a facilitator in programs supporting businesses such as Help to Grow and delivering presentations for other organisations such as Brighton Chamber and Worthing Council. Fourth, I have also presented papers in other BAM conferences such as the MKE which brings research in management and education together further supporting the wider aim of the BAM.

Konstantinos Vergos

I joined British Academy of Management 7 years ago but only recently, since 2024, was given the privilege to serve as a Track Chair of SRB SIG. I am Senior Lecturer (Associate Professor) at University of Portsmouth, that I joined in 2010, specialised in Asset Pricing and Sustainability. Before I joined academia, I served in managerial positions in brokerage and listed firms for 14 years, and been Chair of Greek Certified Financial Analysts Association. I hold PhD in Finance from Bangor University and I am dual national, British and Greek. I am grateful to our SIG Chairs Dr Simon Smith, Professor Polina Baranova and to Professor Helen Goworek, for the unprecedented support they provided me to organise 2022 International Conference: UN SDGs, Greenwashing, and sustainability practices at University of Portsmouth. In December 2024 I had the privilege to set up our SIG social network presence in LinkedIn and Twitter/X, and in June 2025 to organise, our first SRB SIG in-person Workshop in Greenwashing and Sustainability Data. I will be committed to leverage my skills so that not only our SIG to organise more events, but also to be actively involved with regulators, associations and government organisations.
