Developing Sustainability Leadership Papers for BAM Conference and Special Issue. Staged jointly by the BAM Sustainable and Responsible Leadership and Leadership and Leadership Development Special Interest Groups.
This interactive on-line event is designed for those interested in submitting to the BAM Conference and/or the associated Special Issue of the Journal of Management Development (Emerald). Participants will hear directly from the Guest Editors and Symposium Chair about what they are looking for in conference and journal papers, with practical guidance on how to enhance submission quality and likelihood of acceptance.
Each Guest Editor will briefly introduce their focus and what they are looking for, followed by small-group and one-to-one breakout discussions on participants’ ideas and extended abstracts. Contributions are encouraged at the levels of analysis below:

Dr Scott Lichtenstein is an Associate Professor in Strategic Leadership at BCU, and Managing Guest Editor of the sustainability leadership Special Issue at the Journal of Management Development. Previously Subject Area Leader in Leadership, he runs an MSc core course in Strategy and has run a Managing Strategic Change workshop for executive MBAs in Ghana for a European Top 10 business school. He publishes articles in the Leadership, Entrepreneurship and Strategy areas, and his latest lead-authored book with Prof. Malcolm Higgs, Strategy through Personal Values, published by Palgrave Macmillan was released in January 2022.
Scott is also a European Mentoring and Coaching Council (EMCC) qualified coach and coaches start up founders, C-suite executives and senior managers pursuing social and or environmental impact. He coached Southampton MBAs for a number of years.

Dr Helen Kopnina (PhD Cambridge University, 2002) is currently employed at Northumbria University in Newcastle, UK, coordinating the Sustainable Business program and conducting research within four main areas: sustainable business, environmental sustainability, environmental education and biological conservation. Kopnina is the author of over two hundred peer-reviewed articles and co)author and (co)editor of seventeen books.

Dr Krish Saha is an Associate Professor in Circular Economy and Sustainability at Birmingham City University Business School. His research examines circular economy adoption, sustainability leadership, and organisational transitions across sectors. He is a Guest Editor of a sustainability leadership Special Issue at the Journal of Management Development and is active in the British Academy of Management.

Dr. Truzaar Dordi is a Lecturer in Sustainability Management at the University of York, UK – working in the fields of climate finance, energy policy, and sustainability transitions. His research uncovers the interconnected and complementary roles industry, policy, and capital markets play in contributing to both barriers and solutions to sustainability transitions.
Truzaar leads postgraduate modules on change management, leadership, and innovation and serves as the Director of Partnerships and Engagement for the Department of Environment and Geography.

Dr Simon Smith has been working in Higher Education for nearly 20 years. He is Principal Lecturer in Business, Management and Enterprise at Oxford Brookes University.
Simon is co-Chair for the Sustainable and Responsible Business SIG at BAM and his research has developed over time to be very much focused on sustainable development, responsible management/leadership and better achieving the SDGs. He has had successes with funding, but would be the first to admit that there are many others who are much more successful in terms of amounts of money brought in and levels of success.
Simon comes at this series as someone who has had some funding success, but happy to share his experiences with a view to improve success for all involved

Dr Kelly Rogers is an Assistant Professor of Leadership in the Birmingham Business School, University of Birmingham. Her research explores Educational Leadership in the Further Education sector. Prior to joining the University of Birmingham, Kelly was a Senior Lecturer in Management at Birmingham City University. Before moving to Higher Education, Kelly held various leadership and management positions in Further Education colleges. Kelly began her career in the Tourism industry, holding several roles spanning leisure, business, and corporate travel.
Kelly’s higher education was obtained at the University of Birmingham, graduating in 2004 with a BSc (Hons) in Tourism Management, 2006 with a CertEd in Further Education Teaching, and 2021 with an EdD in Educational Leadership. Kelly is a Senior Fellow of Advance HE (SFHEA) and a Certified Management and Business Educator of CABS.
