Staged by the BAM Identity Special Interest Group
The Identity Track is always a friendly, constructive, and supportive space for authors to present and discuss their work at the BAM Conference. We are also delighted to invite other researchers from different fields, to join us! With this workshop the Identity Special Interest Group expands its supportive space to offer a workshop on preparing and writing your identity-related paper.
The workshop has three aims. Firstly, for those new/er to the field, or wondering whether their paper might align with the Identity track, it will offer guidance for writing about identity. Second, it will address the skills and practice of writing a conference paper, which may be especially helpful for early career academics and doctoral candidates submitting a paper to the BAM Conference for the first time.
Specifically, we will reflect on the nature of the BAM Developmental Paper: what it is, what it is not, and how authors can use the format to support the development of their ideas and research. These first two aims will be addressed through a series of short presentations, including perspectives from reviewers and Track Chairs, and will be interactive and with opportunities for questions and answers. Lastly, the workshop will offer an opportunity to actually write and provide some methods for maintaining your writing momentum.
The workshop will conclude with reflections between delegates and presenters on how we might wish to sustain our writing community and what would help us to develop our research and especially our writing practice.
Please note: Delegates should have a working idea for a Developmental paper as a minimum.
The event speaks to Sections A1, A2, A3, D1, D2, D3, E1, E2 and E3, as detailed in the BAM Framework.
