Their participatory arts-based methodology of knowledge co-production and community engagement entitled Cultural Animation gives equal status to academic expertise and practical skills, its aim being to connect reflection with action and achieve individual and collective transformation. Recent research projects have tackled topics such as post-disaster reconstruction, social innovation, volunteering, food poverty, marketplace exclusion, health inequalities, sustainable artisanal mining, and meaningful engagement with women in conflict-affected areas. CA transcends cultural and language barriers and has led to powerful insights in multiple business and community settings in the UK, Japan, the Philippines, Canada, Greece, France, and Kenya. |

Mihaela Kelemen is Chair in Business and Society in the International Centre for Corporate Social Responsibility at Nottingham University Business School. Her research draws on participatory creative methodologies of community engagement and knowledge co-production and has been disseminated via numerous academic publications, documentary dramas, interactive art installations and virtual games.
