British Journal of Management (BJM)

NEW ASSOCIATE and ASSISTANT EDITORS SOUGHT

Deadline for applications is 17:00 GMT on Friday 02nd October 2026

The British Journal of Management (BJM) is the flagship journal of the British Academy of Management and is now in its 37th volume, having been established in 1990 with David Otley as its founding editor. It is highly regarded globally, being rated as a ‘4’ in the Academic Journal Guide and ‘A*’ in the ABDC list; its 2025 impact factor increased to 6.5 and its 5-year impact factor is 7.5. Its ranking continues to rise and BJM is now listed as 58/323 in Business and 78/426 in Management by Clarivate. In 2025 over 775,000 full text views of BJM articles were recorded. The journal continues to perform well and is attracting increasing submissions as one of the leading management journals.

In light of growing and diverse submissions, and evolving priorities, we are recruiting seven Associate and Assistant Editors and are interested in recruiting scholars from under-represented groups (or regions) who meet the journal’s requirements and skills expectations, in order to increase talent and diversity in our editorial team.

We are particularly interested in hearing from scholars who possess strong statistical and quantitative method backgrounds and have expertise spanning areas such as organisational behaviour and human resource management, digital transformation and emerging technologies, entrepreneurship and international business, indigenous studies and methods, and methodology, from multi-disciplinary perspectives.

For Associate Editor role, BJM is looking for scholars who have demonstrated editorial experiences. To further build the next generation of editorial talent, BJM is introducing Assistant Editors. This role is for scholars who have less editorial experience but demonstrate strong motivation to grow into editorial positions. This role is designed as a building block into future editorial positions, with a clear path for progression (into Associate Editor) based on performance and contributions to BJM.

The new Associate and Assistant Editors will join our growing team Associate Editors with a 3-year appointment and a probationary period of 6 months.

The role will include managing desk rejections, finding and assigning reviewers, making decisions on papers sent for review, handle a broader range of submissions, attending editorial board meetings (usually twice a year), and contributing to BJM’s capability building as well as promotional activities.  Associate and Assistant editors recruited for this position will need to attend a mandatory training session.
