We are delighted to welcome Professor Andrea Caputo, University of Trento, Italy, as the incoming Co-Editor-in-Chief of the International Journal of Management Reviews (IJMR), joining Professor Ashish Malik and Professor Alexandra Beauregard. Professor Caputo succeeds Professor Joaquín Alegre whose term finishes on 31 December 2025. Professor Caputo brings editorial experience and methodological expertise in literature reviews, having published Review articles himself, and joins us from most recently serving as the Editor-in-Chief of Strategic Change and Co-Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Enterprising Communities.

We are ever grateful to Professor Joaquin Alegre for his wonderful work.

Speaking on his appointment, Professor Caputo said, “I am truly honoured to step into the role of Co-Editor-in-Chief of the International Journal of Management Reviews. As an author of several review articles myself, IJMR has always been the benchmark journal I aspired to. It has long provided a home for rigorous and influential reviews that transcend disciplinary boundaries and advance management theory. My own research journey has been deeply interdisciplinary, and I am excited to collaborate with Professor Malik, Professor Beauregard, our outstanding editorial team, BAM, and the wider scholarly community. Together, we will continue to strengthen IJMR’s mission as the leading platform for reviews that connect ideas across domains, tackle pressing global challenges, and develop management theory with meaningful real-world impact.”.

Professor Ashish Malik, current Co-Editor-in-Chief of IJMR said “I extend my warm welcome to Professor Andrea Caputo on the appointment. Andrea brings to the IJMR leadership team complementary interdisciplinary expertise and extensive editorial experience. I am looking forward to working with the team to launch new initiatives, guidance and explore innovative contributions, especially as review journals start to shape the permitted use of AI in research.”.

Professor Alexandra Beauregard, current Co-Editor-in-Chief of IJMR said, “It’s a real pleasure to welcome Professor Andrea Caputo onboard IJMR. Andrea brings extensive and highly relevant experience to the role, and in my work with him on the BAM Research and Publications Committee, his passion for and deep knowledge of academic publishing have always shone through. The International Journal of Management Reviews (IJMR) is an official, peer-reviewed and highly-ranked journal of the British Academy of Management and is the leading global review journal in Organisation and Management Studies (OMS). Papers published in IJMR seek to make significant conceptual contributions, offering a strategic platform for new directions in research and making a difference to how OMS scholars might conceptualise research in their respective fields. In reviews published in IJMR, the state of knowledge in a given field is critically evaluated, and conceptual underpinnings of competing paradigms critically appraised, with a view towards advancing current and future research in the area. IJMR complements the other publications produced by the British Academy of Management and is deliberately targeted at a wide OMS readership. IJMR is thus distinctive in its generalist appeal, with a focus on theoretical underpinnings and accessible to a broad range of research traditions. The journal covers all the main OMS sub-disciplines including, for example, Human Resource Management, Organisational Behaviour, International and Strategic Management, Entrepreneurship, Operations Management, Management Sciences, Information Systems and Technology Management, Accounting and Finance, and Marketing. IJMR is distinctive in its multi- and cross-disciplinary reach, sowing the seeds for new approaches through a cross-fertilisation of ideas and concepts. As a result, IJMR speaks to several key audiences or readerships:

  • Members of the academic community who will expect to be kept abreast of disciplinary areas outside of their own specific domains of expertise.
  • The journal will enable senior faculty to undertake more interdisciplinary research by providing a wider understanding or emerging thought and methodological developments in other fields, and by so doing, facilitating the development of transdisciplinarity.
  • More established researchers who are looking to update their knowledge in their own particular field, or who are shifting their area of focus or developing collaborative or inter-disciplinary work extending beyond their established specialisation.
  • Supporting doctoral candidates in the production of their theses by producing comprehensive reviews/debates and to locate their research within past, present and future debates.
